The Human Drive

Backstory

6040805528_7db55624e7_bWhat makes us human? What truly separates us from the beasts (or the robots)? Is it something in our physical constituency? Our DNA? Or is it more about how we think and communicate? The things we do? The need for personal expression? To share our experiences? To improve ourselves?

Without getting all metaphysical, the truth is we are more than our body and our brains. We are also the data and media that define and express who we are. From our medical records to our transcripts to our mp3s to our digital pix to our tweets and posts.

Alas, there has always been a fundamental separation between you and your data/media expressions. It’s scattered about the world. In file cabinets. Hard drives. Smartphones. Tablets. Cloud servers. The social media ether. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

The Product

The VNT Human Drive is many things. It’s a bicep borne piece of functional body art with a mini yet massive removable triangular memory card heart of 100 Petabytes. For you folks still taking terabytes, that’s 100,000 of those suckers. We’re talking enough storage to tote about your whole darn digital existence.

It’s a solar powered (with bio-electricity back-up!) wireless hot spot and transmission device capable of transferring data at 5TB/s. So you can access the contents of your biometrically encrypted Human Drive from any Bluetooth enabled device. These contents include (but are not limited to) any raw data produced by your other VNT functional body art or any processed data funneled to your QuantifyU dashboard.

The Human Drive features a variable security partitioning system that allows you to safely lock down some data while making other data easily shareable with others. There’s even an open access area where you can store emergency medical data. This partitioning system is paired with a verbal command system that allows you to share files to accessible storage sites or even directly transfer data to your fellow VNT Human Drive enabled connections.

Oh yeah, and if that wasn’t enough, it’s even got a built-in MP3 player, so you’ll never be apart from your music ever again. Wearing your heart on your sleeve may have its pitfalls, but wearing your music on it totally rocks.

Data security

Don’t sweat security; we’ve got our eye on that. Well, actually, it’s your eye. You see the Human Drive leverages state of the art iris scanning based security. The human iris provides contains more than 200 unique features, which makes it 10-20x more secure then even fingerprint-based systems.

iris to be scannedHere’s how it works. When you have your VNT Human Drive applied, we’ll also perform a painless iris scan that is in turn translated into a 500+ digit code. Then to access your Human Drive, simply peer into the iris scanner embedded in your memory card. Assuming you’re you, you’re in. And lest anyone worry, that whole eyeball removal security hack Cruise pulled off in Minority Report is total b.s. (though we still dig the flick!)

And if iris scanning isn’t secure enough, if you’re sporting the VNT Blood Brother, you can even able real-time bloodstream DNA based security. This is not encryption that mimics how DNA stores information (which is undeniably cool too) but rather encryption that uses your own DNA as a security check. Now how cool is that?

Possessing the Human Drive

There are three cost components associated with possessing the VNT Human Drive: the hardware, the application and the QuantifyU data warehouse integration. See our pricing/services page for more details.
